Call to a member function get_id() on string

I am using the wc_tc_final_price_total_text filter to modify the text 'Final Total' for a custom one that I get from a custom field. When I make a $ product->get_id (), having previously declared global $product, to get the custom field it throws me a fatal error: Call to a member function get_name () on string
